Jing was a really exciting tool to try out. I can see endless possibilities using this in the classroom. I could make videos showing students how to find resources on the Internet, which they seem to not know how to do very well. The students could use Jing to create screencasts of information that they found on the Internet while giving tips to other students on a topic. I also like the ideas of the students using the screencast to show the process of finding help when they are stuck. I could give each student a topic that they have struggled with and have them make a screencast of useful information that they found on the Internet.
I created a screencast using Jing on QR codes. It was very easy to do once I got started. However, I ran into some issues while making the screencast. The first issue was that my Internet was slow, so I kept having to wait for the website to come up and fill dead air. It also took a while for the video to upload to the website because it was a large file. The video is embedded below.
