6.2 Reflection
Candidates regularly evaluate and reflect on their professional practice and dispositions to improve and strengthen their ability to effectively model and facilitate technology-enhanced learning experiences.
Artifact: Edmodo Blog
Reflection:
The artifact I used to demonstrate mastery of reflection on my professional practice and disposition is my professional blog. Each semester I wrote reflectively in the form of my blog. I also posted about how to implement technology in the classroom. These posts included new technologies that could be used with students in the classroom, such as Edmodo or Socrative. This practice has often caused me to reevaluate how I teach and my opinions of technology integration in the classroom.
A few years ago, I was teaching using an overhead projector and students did not have technology in the classroom. Now, I am using a mimio board and the students regularly use their own electronic devices to communicate with me. I have a website where the students can watch videos of lessons and take Google Doc assessments for practice. I began using an Edmodo blog last year, but I felt it was limiting in what I wanted to do with my students. I have sense moved to a more traditional website that allows my students to go to one place for information from the course.
Completing this assignment allowed me to see a change in myself. I went from hardly using any technology with my students and being reluctant to being a leader in my school. I am asked to provide professional development to my colleagues on utilizing technology resources with students.
