Artifact: Field Experiences
Reflection:
The field experiences were a very enlightening experience. They allowed me to work with other educators in diverse settings while also applying the skills necessary to become a successful technology coach. I enjoyed the opportunities that they provided me to test out my skills and reflect on what it takes to implement technology in the classroom.
As I completed the reflection parts of the field experience logs, I found that one skill seemed to pop up constantly. That skill was patience. Patience is a must when working in any job where you push people out of their comfort zone. You have to be willing to go slow and not get upset when there is pushback from the person you are working with. This is definitely true when working with educators and implementing technology or any change initiative. A teacher may be against any idea you bring to them, but with patience you can begin to make an impact with that teacher. Slowly, they will begin to change their way of thinking and try new ideas.
I enjoyed my work throughout the program and the opportunities I was given by my administration to apply skills I learned with my coworkers. I hope to continue to conduct professional development sessions to encourage more use of technology in the classroom, especially by the students.
