5.3 Program Evaluation
Candidates design and implement program evaluations to determine the overall effectiveness of professional learning on deepening teacher content knowledge, improving teacher pedagogical skills and/or increasing student learning.
Artifact: Facebook Page Tutorial
Follow-Up Questionnaire
Reflection:
To demonstrate mastery of element 5.3, I submitted this website to walk other teachers through how to set up their own Facebook page and post for students. This Facebook page is intended to be separate from a personal Facebook profile and to keep privacy between the teacher and students while also serving as an avenue to relay information in a medium that students use constantly. At the end of the step-by-step instruction, I provided teachers with a questionnaire to assess their opinion of the professional learning experience and to inquire about further requests for information or help.
I used a Wikipage to post screenshots of each step in the process of making a Facebook Page. I used Google Docs to create a Google Form to get each teacher to send me the link to their new Facebook page and give them an opportunity to ask for follow-up help with their Facebook page. The questionnaire also asks teachers if they felt the workshop was informative and applicable to them in their classroom. There is also an open question to leave comments and ask questions if needed. I created and gave a survey that evaluated the effectiveness of the professional learning. The results showed that a number of teachers created successful classroom Facebook pages to use for educational purposes.
I found this a rewarding experience to create this helper website. I would like to change the way that I do the Questionnaire in the future. I would like one that is completely anonymous to get true feedback about the program and a separate one for people who need more information or one-on-one attention from me.
